On Monday, March 10, 2025, the College of Engineering at Al-Ayen Iraqi University, in cooperation with the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE), organized a lecture titled "Between University and Graduation: Skills Building and Career Paths." The lecture was presented by the LEAD Forward team, represented by Engineer Mohammed Abdullah Khazal, an oil and gas engineer, and Engineer Ahmed Hisham Ahmed, a petroleum engineer working for the Russian company Lukoil. This initiative supports Sustainable Development Goal 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).
The lecture addressed several key topics to help students and graduates transition from university life to the labor market. The lecturers discussed the skills required for professional success, the opportunities available in foreign companies and the private sector, and the importance of volunteering during studies in building experience and enhancing employment opportunities. They also touched on post-graduation planning and reviewed various career paths in engineering fields.
The lecture witnessed significant interaction from students and graduates, who raised questions about labor market requirements and the challenges they may face after graduation. This event is part of the College of Engineering's and the Society of Petroleum Engineers' (SPE) efforts to support students, develop their skills, and prepare them for the demands of the oil and gas sector.
